Client

The client is a global hearing healthcare provider, known for delivering cutting-edge audio and medical solutions. Their core product offering includes advanced hearing aids and medical-grade audio solutions used by people around the world. To enhance the user experience, they’ve built a mobile application that allows users to adjust sound settings, switch listening profiles, and manage their hearing devices via Bluetooth – all from their smartphone.

Challenge

The mobile app is a critical component of the overall product ecosystem. It needs to evolve continuously to meet changing user expectations and to support new devices, features, and business requirements. At the same time, the product team faced a significant architectural transition: moving from legacy infrastructure to a more modern, modular system. That called for strong ownership, deep product understanding, and the ability to think and act with agility.

To succeed, the team needed more than additional development capacity. They needed someone who could join as a full member of their international agile setup, capable of adapting to complexity, thinking analytically, and contributing to the long-term vision of the product.

Solution

For over 3.5 years, a developer from Directio has been a core part of the client’s mobile team. Integrated into the team’s daily work and delivery cycles, he contributes not only to feature implementation, but also to discussions around architecture, planning, DevOps, testing, and continuous improvement.

The application is developed within the Microsoft ecosystem, using technologies like Xamarin (with migration toward .NET MAUI), a .NET-based backend, and Azure for cloud infrastructure. The development process includes a robust CI/CD pipeline, automated testing, and regular release cycles that ensure quality and stability in a highly sensitive, user-facing domain.

At Directio, our approach to team augmentation goes beyond supplying developers – we bring in problem-solvers who think critically, adapt quickly, and make a real impact from day one.

Benefits for the Client

  • Stable development flow despite shifting priorities and architectural evolution
  • Reduced onboarding time for new team members thanks to in-team support and knowledge sharing
  • Higher user satisfaction from faster delivery of app improvements and features
  • Better product decisions thanks to input from someone who knows the app’s full history and dependencies
  • More resilient team dynamics enabled by flexibility and trusted communication

Effects

  • The mobile app remains a reliable, high-performing touchpoint for hearing aid users worldwide
  • New features and improvements are delivered with consistency and technical confidence
  • The collaboration continues into its fourth year – a testament to trust, value, and mutual respect

This long-term engagement demonstrates what happens when clients are supported by people who care about the product, not just the task.
